Hornet Havoc 2026

Combat Robotics is back at Sac State!

Hornet Havoc is is a robot fighting tournament aimed at giving entry-level university students an opportunity to compete against each other in a competitive setting.

Come cheer on your school's combat robotics team at Hornet Havoc, hosted at Sac State.

 

Important - College students have priority registration. Registration for non-college students will be allowed starting Nov 14th. Registrants may be asked to provide proof of enrollment. Any non-college students who register before Nov 14th will be removed from the bracket and asked to wait until Nov 14th before attempting another registration.

 

Date: December 19th, 2026

Time: 9:00am - 5:00pm

Location: Sacramento State University Campus (Exact location TBD)

Brackets (Priority will be given to University Students):

• Antweight (1lb)
• Plastic Antweight (1lb) - General
• Plastic Antweight (1lb) - Beginner University

 

Schedule:

• 7:30am - Venue Open to Teams
• 9:00am - Fights Begin
• 12:00pm - Break for Lunch
• 1:00pm - Fighting Continues
• 4:00pm - Awards and Clean-up (estimated)

Registration Dates (Priority Given to College Students):

• Registration Opens (College Students): Oct 10th, 2026
• Registrations Opens (General): Nov 14th, 2026
• Registration Deadline: Dec 13th, 2026

Rules: We will be using modified SPARC rulesets for Tournament Procedures, Match Rules, Judging Guidelines, and Construction Specifications.

 

Rule Modifications:

• Maximum spinner tip speed is 250mph (design and actual) (exceptions for enclosed flywheels)
• No compressed fluids.
• No fire-based weapons.
• In plastic antweights, TPU is forbidden except for back-up weapon/drive belts.

Additional Rules:

• 1 Robots per builder per bracket.
• Experienced college student builders may be allowed to enter the beginner college bracket if their robot follows the spirit of entry level combat robotics.
• Participants must fill out a waiver before the event begins.
