Put your bot to the test at this double-elimination, plastic antweight tournament hosted at the Binghamton State University fabrication laboratory by the Watson Combat Robotics League!
Date: 11/22/2026
Location: Binghamton State University Fabrication Laboratory in the Engineering Building (4400 Vestal Pkwy E, Vestal NY), map link
Registration is $20, payable by cash at the door.
Registration capacity is 25 bots.
Note 1: Disregard the registration on our website (wcrl.github.io), it is for our University's internal league (not for this tournament)
Note 2: Due to University rules, minors are not allowed to attend this event as a driver or a spectator
Bot Rules
The rules for robot construction follow these SPARC guidelines, specifically, for the 1 lb plastic class.
Here are the most important ones to remember:
-
Frames, weapons and other custom parts may only be made from PLA, PLA+, PET, PETG, ABS, or ASA and must be FDM 3D printed
-
COTS parts may not be used outside of their typically accepted function. For example, screws may not be used to enhance the power of the weapon
-
RF jammers, liquid, fuel, or entanglement devices are prohibited
-
If the transmitter loses connection, the bot must power down movement and weapon motors/servos immediately
-
All robots must be able to be fully deactivated, which includes power to drive and weaponry, in under 60 seconds by a manual disconnect
Match Rules/Procedures
The SPARC rules for a double-elimination style bracket will be followed for this event. The most important points are listed below.
Match rules:
-
3 minute match time
-
1 unstick for any reason
-
If a battery becomes exposed, that robot will immediately lose
-
Pinning is limited to 5 seconds, counted down by referee. After 5 seconds, you must release
-
A team can tap out at any time
-
A bot has at least 20 minutes between matches
-
Once a bot is called to the arena, they have 5 minutes
Check-in procedure:
-
Weigh in with all electronics/batteries
-
Demonstrate weapon and movement
-
Demonstrate that a loss of signal powers down the robot motors
-
Demonstrate that killswitch disconnects power from electronics
Arena
-
The arena is approximately 6ft x 6ft
-
The floor is made of plywood
-
Metal kickplates will cover the bottom portion of the 4 walls
