Gobble Squabble -- Robot Chaos

This is a new event to bring combat robotics to the Colorado Front Range area in the Fall timeframe. The goal is to bring an additional event option to experienced hobbyists, while also providing a friendly way for new teams and robots to get involved in the sport. This event is a collaboration of Monumental Impact (a STEM education non-profit), the Bearbotics Robotics team (which participates in FIRST(R) Robotics programs), and the Colorado School of Mines Robotics Club. The venue is located about 2 minutes off of I-25 in Monument (between Colorado Springs and Denver), with convenient access to nearby services. Food will be available at the venue.

This event will feature 2 Classes: Open Antweight, and Plastic Antweight. We're planning for 12 participants in each class, but the numbers will be adjusted on 11/3, if needed, to reflect the interest levels shown by registrations up to that time. The Western Allied Robotics rules will apply, including these specifics for Plastic Antweights. The Mines Robotics Club combat area will be used (thanks MRC!!!). The 2 Classes will compete separately, but the top-4 ranked Plastic Antweights may join the Open Playoffs, if interested.

The total registration fee is $40.00 per robot. Net proceeds will support the Bearbotics Robotics programs. Sign up for this event here, but follow the instructions on the event website to pay the fees.

The Gobble Squabble is an applied-STEM showcase that features robotics competitions. The event is held in an indoor basketball court/gym area. In addition to Robot Chaos, a large FTC Robotics scrimmage will take place at the same time in the venue. Robot Chaos and FTC scrimmage matches will be interspersed for constant robot action.

Event Schedule (note: these times may be adjusted and updated after event participation is finalized):

To help newcomers get involved, Bearbotics is offering a Plastic Antweight design & build education class. Participation can range from a full design & build project, to assistance and support with putting a KitBot into operation. There are costs to cover parts and 3D printing. Extensive information is provided (all the documented info is free to use). Classes start in early September 2023. Go to this webpage for more information and to sign-up.
