TRC Presents: December Destruction

Texas Robot Combat is back! Our new home is at REV Robotics Headquarters!
Join us for the first full combat event in Dallas since 2020! We’re going to be running ants and plastic ants in the TRC 6x6 arena.  There will be heavyweight robots on display!

 

Important information:
This event takes place in the REV Robotics shop. The shop is currently under construction so you will need to bring your own pit tables, chairs, and plenty of water. Remember that we are guests in the space, so please respect the shop and the facility. 
We’ve taken a look at the venue and it’’s pretty amazing! We’re excited to be back!

Signups are limited to one robot per driver per weight class. Please leave room for other builders and refrain from registering multiple robots within the weight classes. 

ALL SIGNUPS MUST BE DONE BEFORE THE EVENT. We are expecting the event to fill up, so register fast!
 

We don't have pit tables and chairs for everyone. Please plan on bringing a table to pit on for this event. 

There will be no break for lunch. REV HQ is close to plenty of restaurants that offer doordash, so plan on either bringing food or ordering it to the event. 

There are no public water fountains in the building, so please please please bring water bottles to stay hydrated. We will have water for sale for $1 for those of you who forget.

Entrance is through the rightmost doorway in the front of the building.

 

Times:

9:30 Doors and pits open. Check in opens

10:00 Safety starts in the arena and the 4x4 test box

11:00 Check in closes, all builders should be in the building by now

11:30 Drivers meeting. All bots should be through safety. We will finalize brackets.

12:00 Fights begin.

5-6pm target end time

We will be going out to dinner after the event, so hang around and help tear down to get the details on where we’re going.

1lb full combat antweights

1lb Plastic antweights

Registration fees:

Antweight: $20

Plastic antweight: $20

Plastic ants are $10 with valid student ID.

 

Arena:

The arena is a 6x6x2 with wooden floors and 2 corner pits. The pits are approximately 12in x 12in and have a lip around them to help prevent accidental pittings. 

We have a cover for the pits that will be used for all fights involving bots with active weapons. 

 

Rules:

General Rules:

• No heat, fire, smoke, entanglement, or other weapons that do not fit the spirit of the rules.
• No weight bonuses for shufflers or other novel motion bots
• Bots will have 20 minutes between fights for repairs. This 20 minutes is per bot not per competitor, so if you bring multiple bots you might use up repair time while fighting with the others. We will give one 10 minute extension to each bot. 
• 1 unstick per bot. We cannot promise that you won’t get stuck on the arena so be careful with your forks
• If your battery is exposed or outside your robot the fight will be ended immediately in a technical knock out (TKO)

Plastic antweight specific rules:

• Approved materials are 3D printed ASA, PET, PETG, ABS, ASA, PLA, and PLA+. This means that sheet ABS or cnc machined parts are not legal. TPU and other flexible filament parts are illegal to be used as part of your chassis, armor, or weapons. If you have questions about a specific material’s legality then please contact the EO.

• Plastic antweight winning robots will be added to a TRC hall of fame. Due to the experimental nature of the plastic antweight class we will ask that these hall of fame bots do not return. We welcome their builders to develop new types of robots for the next TRC event! We hope to be able to print replicas of these hall of fame robots to display at all future events.

Format:

• Full Double elimination
• 2 minute matches
• Judging criteria will be 5-6-6 for aggression, control, and damage (Standard SPARC Criteria)

Safety:

• Safety is the #1 priority for our events. 
• All competitors will be required to wear eye protection in the pits and near the arenas. 
• Batteries will be charged on a communal battery charging station and must be in a LIPO bag when charging. 
• There will be a designated power tools area for drills, dremels, and soldering irons. Please remember to use proper PPE when using tools.
