Southeast Michigan Robot Kerfuffle (SMIRK)

Southeast Michigan Robot Kerfuffle (SMIRK) will be the inaugural Michigan combat robot competition hosted by Robot Smashing League. We will be in the Crossroads Community Church in Ottawa Lake, MI. We will have both 1 lb (antweight) and 3 lb (beetleweight) robots going head-to-head in an enclosed 8’ x 8’ arena.

The arena is a brand-new build, using 1515 and 1020 extrusion from Tnutz.com, who are also partially subsidizing the build! We will update this listing with some glamour shots of the arena after it is completed.

The tournament format for both antweight and beetleweight classes will be a modified Swiss tournament with 4 rounds ending with a single elimination bracket for all robots with a 3-1 record or better.

Sign Ups: There are open spots for 32 antweight (1 lbs) bots and 16 beetleweight (3 lbs) bots, with a limit of 2 antweight bots and 1 beetleweight bot per driver.

Registration opens April 25th at 10AM EDT.

Location: Crossroads Community Church [6960 Sylvania Petersburg Rd. Ottawa Lake, MI 49267] 

Venue: Has plenty of space for pits (tables & chairs are provided), but please bring an extension cord. Additional TVs will be set up to view the fights.

Food: Feel free to bring your own food! At the venue, there will be pizza and chicken sandwiches for sale starting around noon, as well as with water and pop. Also, less than 4 miles south on the freeway are a variety of food choices, including Tony Packos, McDonald's, Taco Bell, Burger King, and Wendy's.

Arena: 8’ x 8’, wood floor

Rough Schedule:

• 9:00am – Doors Open for Competitors

• 9:30am – Safety Opens

• 11:00am – Doors Open for Spectators

• 4:00pm –  Single Elimination Finals Starts

Entry Fee: $30 per bot

Ruleset: This event will follow MRCA rules

Spectators: Spectators are welcome and free to attend and doors open at 11am.
