Spring Skirmish '24

Hosted by Oregon State Combat Robotics and open to the public, Spring Skirmish is Oregon State University's end-of-the-year robot combat competition! OSCR members learn the basics of combat robotics through a basic curriculum and hands-on design and developing their own Plastic Antweight robots. Now is the time to test ourselves against others in the Combat Robotics community!

Spring Skirmish '24 will take place on Sunday, June 2nd in Oregon State University's Kelley Engineering Center atrium with doors opening at 10:00 am and battles starting at 12:00 pm, noon. Easy building access and parking is available off SW Park Terrace Pl. 

The OSCR Combat Arena is 4 feet x 4 feet wide and 4 feet tall inside the arena, with a total height of about 7 feet. The floor is steel with steel kickplates. In one corner is a 1 foot square pit that opens in the last minute of each three minute match. The arena is capable of safely containing 1-pound, full-metal Antweight combat robots. While OSCR does not specifically build in these categories, we will still host Full-Metal Antweight and Fairyweight classes for outside competitors.

Our beetle arena is not done yet unfortunately, but if you would like to bring your beetle built using plastic antweight components, that will also be allowed (no TPU!).

If for any reason the pit fails to open (which we try to prevent but with our aging arena is a possibility) the match will proceed to the time limit with no pit in play. Driving over the closed pit is allowed and will not count against builders in this case. We hope this wont be necessary!

This tournament, in all weight classes, will be modified double-elimination style with first bracket match winners moving on and losers moving into the second bracket. Losing in the second bracket will knock a bot out of the competition. The winner of the first bracket and the winner of the second bracket will meet in the finals which will be single elimination. This is a change from previous competitions!
