This event is for currently enrolled RHIT students and staff.
Rose-Hulman Combat Robotics is proud to present our 2nd annual Plastic Ants competition! This competition introduces new members to the fundamentals of robot design, and allows experienced members to showcase their design skills, creativity, and ingenuity with advanced designs.
Location: Union Lake Room
Time: Competitors can arrive at 11:00AM on Saturday. Safety begins at 11:00AM, with a driver’s meeting at 11:15. Matches begin at 11:20AM and are expected to end at 6:00PM.
Facilities: Tables and chairs are provided by the venue. Bathrooms are onsite. Electrical outlets may be limited, so it is recommended to bring your own power strips and extension cords.
Arena: The arena is 6 ft x 6 ft x 4 ft tall with a seamless steel floor. No magnets are allowed for this event.
Robots: Robots must meet the SPARC Robot Construction Specifications. Weight bonuses are 1.25x for shufflers and 1.5x for walkers. In addition, no fire weapons or ICE (Internal Combustion Engines). A LiPo charging bag must be used when charging your batteries. Weapon locks and sharp edge covers must be used while the bot is outside of the arena.
Weight Classes: Plastic Ant (1 pound plastic only). All spinners, chassis, and custom components must be 3d printed plastic. PLA, PLA-plus/pro, ABS, and PETG are all allowed. PLA-plus/pro is usually the most competitive. The parts printed by the team leadership will be Duramic PLA plus. No TPU or “flexible PLA” (which contains TPU).
Format: Tournament format will be determined day off the event based on number of robots and time constraints.
Prizes: Podium placements in each bracket entitle the winner to eternal(till the end of the year) bragging rights and the finest trophies Rose-Hulman Robotics has to offer.
