Gobble Squabble -- Robot Chaos '24

This is the 4th Robot Chaos event, and the 2nd time using full formal event scoring. The goal is to bring an additional event option to experienced hobbyists, while also providing a friendly way for new teams and robots to get involved in the sport. This event is a production of Monumental Impact (a STEM education non-profit) with the support of the UCCS College of Engineering. The venue is located about 3 minutes off of I-25 in Colorado Springs, with convenient access to extensive nearby services. Food for participants will be available at the venue.

NEW: BEETLES ARE WELCOME! This event will feature 3 Classes: Open Antweight and Plastic Antweight, plus Beetleweight. We're planning for up to 16 robots total. The Western Allied Robotics rules will apply, including these specifics for Plastic Antweights (bots not complying with the Plastic rules will be moved into the Open class). The 3 Classes will compete separately, running in separate double-elimination brackets and the final results reported. The “new” Colorado Combat Robotics 8’x8’ arena will be used (thanks Kyle!) Each participant will have either a full or half table for their pit, with access to power nearby (tip: bring a multi-outlet strip and a short extension cord, just to be sure.)

New for 2024: there is no fee! (Although we do need formal registration at robotcombatevents.com ) And lunch (pizza and sodas) will be provided for free to participants! Donations to Monumental Impact will be appreciated to help us continue providing programs and events like this.

The Gobble Squabble is an applied-STEM showcase that features robotics competitions. The event is held in an indoor basketball court/gym area. In addition to Robot Chaos, a large FTC Robotics scrimmage will take place at the same time in the venue. Robot Chaos and FTC scrimmage matches will be interspersed for constant robot action.

Event Schedule (note: these times may be adjusted and updated after event participation is finalized):

• 8 AM: venue opens. Teams should check in as early as possible. Tech inspection starts

• 9:30 AM: Tech inspection is completed. Bracket/ranking matches begin. (There might be some flex in this start time.)

• 3 PM (approx): Bracket/ranking matches conclude; “Playoff” matches begin

• 5 PM (approx): “Playoff” matches conclude
