Welcome to the 2025 Winter Semester Tournament at Brigham Young University!
This competition hosts Plastic Antweight and Beetleweight brackets!
Rules: All robots must be compliant with SPARC Robot Construction Specifications v1.5, as well as specific BYU-event rules found here. As a reminder, our plastic antweight bracket is for beginners, so materials with abnormally high strength ratings (Overture Super PLA+ and Polymaker Polymax Tough PLA) are not allowed. For beetles, weapon tip speed cannot theorhetically exceed 250mph to prevent arena damage. Contact club leadership with any questions, or see our FAQs
Safety Checks: (safety inspection checklist here)
-
"Buffer" Safety Check: Mar 27th- This safety check is a BUFFER so you have enough time to fix your robot before final safety checks! Even if your bot is not ready, make sure your team has checked in or you cannot compete. Come to Build Night, check in with the USU club, or contact club leadership via email or discord
-
Final Safety Check: Apr 3rd- If your team did not pass safety already, you MUST pass it by Apr 3rd. No exceptions! BYU students must pass safety at build night. USU students can pass with their club leadership. Other participants can send a video in the Discord

Additional Event Rules & Safety:
- Children under 12 are NOT allowed to run around in the pits. Teams will have tools like razer blades, soldering irons, and power drills at their tables. It is not a safe environment for young children. We ask that young children stay in the spectator area, where they can watch the fights. (Children can sit at their parent's table if their parent/guardian is competing as long as they are under supervision)
- Full facial coverings will not be permitted. Event organizers and referees need to be able to identify participants, and need to see their faces while competing to make sure they hear instructions.
- LiPo batteries must be charged in a fireproof LiPo bag! Teams who do not will be asked to leave
- Good Sportsmanship: we want to have a friendly competition. Teams expressing poor sportsmanship will be asked to leave
