GSCRL and the TCF Present: Spring Smash @ TCNJ Part 2

Welcome to Spring Smash @ TCNJ!! We are pleased to announce GSCRL’s second event at The College of New Jersey. This event is a joint operation between GSCRL, the TCNJ STEM Society, and the Trenton Computer Festival. A special thanks to all of them for their support!

Date: March 29th, 2025

Location: Armstrong Hall ARM 123

IMPORTAINT ANNOUNCEMENT: Due to the small number of robots we will be able to run compared to the demand, we will only be allowing one robot per team, per weight class. I.E. You would be allowed to register 1 Antweight and 1 Beetlewight, but not 2 Antwieghts.

Parking: All vehicles should park in lot 20, from there it’s a short walk to Armstrong Hall. Once inside there will be signage to direct you to ARM 123

Event Conclusion, Awards & Teardown

Trenton Computer Festival: As this event is being run jointly with the Trenton Computer Festival, I’m pleased to announce that all competitors will be able to participate in and attend the various events and talks that are part of the TCF for free! A special thanks to them and if you all could support them that would be fantastic.

TCNJ STEM Society: Also helping with the running of this event is the TCNJ STEM Society! They will have a few tables setup and will be selling various merchandise as well as some snacks and drinks.

Competition Categories and Rules: Our competition includes multiple categories, each with specific rules and regulations. For detailed information, please refer to our official rules and guidelines, also see the SPARC Rules: http://sparc.tools/. If you have any specific questions regarding the rules please email njcombatrobots@gmail.com or message us in the discord.

Logistics and Preparation Details:

Pits and Tables: We will provide dedicated pits. Each team will have table space and chairs. But if you are planning on bringing more than 2 teams members then please try to bring some chairs of your own.

Equipment and Supplies: Power will be provided, but we encourage teams to bring extension cords and power strips.  

Food and Beverage Information: There is a Panera, Frutta bowls, Blazin Js (Fried Chicken), and a few more places in Campustown which is less then a 5 minute walk away from the building. A lunch break will be provided

Team Details: Please provide the number of team members and any special needs or requests during the registration process. 

Safety Reminders: 

Function Checks: Outside the test box, all wheels must be up, and weapons must be locked.

Safety Inspection: Please ensure that weapon locks, sharp edges, and battery protection are properly checked.

Power On Procedures: The correct order is:

  1. Turn on the transmitter (TX)

  2. Power on the robot.

  3. Remove the weapon lock.

  4. Power Off Procedures: The correct order is:

  5. Enable the weapon lock.

  6. Power off the robot.

  7. Turn off the transmitter (TX).

Unsticks: 1 Unstick per robot per Match
