TRC is back with our first big event of 2025! We're running three brackets across two arenas, at the same time! Spectators are free!
Important information: This event takes place in the REV Robotics shop. Please bring water and snack to stay full and hydrated. There is not a water fountain in the venue so all water will have to be brought onto the site. We have had a concessions stand before and will update if it is happening again. Remember that we are guests in the space, so please respect the shop and the facility. The REV venue is awesome and we had a great time last time around.
Pit space is limited. We have a limited number of pit tables. Please bring your own table if you are able to. Teams that don't bring their own tables will be assigned a half of a table per 2 robots registered. Please don't crowd the pits. Only have the required personnel to repair robots in the pits to keep them open for others.
Signups are limited to one robot per driver per weight class.
ALL SIGNUPS MUST BE DONE BEFORE THE EVENT. We are expecting the event to fill up, so register fast!
Thanks to our awesome sponsors for helping make the event a success

Registration fees:
Beetleweight: $30
Antweight: $20
Plastic antweight: $20
Arena:
Ants will be run in the 6x6x2 arena. Beetles and plastic ants will run in the 8x8x4 big box. We may choose to run antweight final fights in the 8x8x4 arena depending on schedule.
The 6x6x2 arena has wooden floors. We will be removing the corner pits by popular demand.
The 8x8 arena has wood floors and 2x6 wooden kickplates. The kickplates are held in by an exposed 1.5" aluminum angle bracket.
Rules:
We will follow the basic sparc ruleset. Full ruleset can be found here: https://shorturl.at/gtEI6
General Rules:
No heat, fire, smoke, entanglement, or other weapons that do not fit the spirit of the rules.
No weight bonuses for shufflers or other novel motion bots
Bots will have 20 minutes between fights for repairs. This 20 minutes is per bot not per competitor, so if you bring multiple bots you might use up repair time while fighting with the others. There are no expenses
If your battery is exposed or outside your robot the fight will be ended immediately in a technical knock out (TKO)
Plastic antweight specific rules:
Approved materials are 3D printed ASA, PET, PETG, ABS, ASA, PLA, and PLA+. This means that sheet ABS or cnc machined parts are not legal. TPU and other flexible filament parts are illegal anywhere. If you have questions about a specific material’s legality then please contact the EO.
Plastic antweight winning robots will be added to a TRC hall of fame. Due to the experimental nature of the plastic antweight class we will ask that these hall of fame bots do not return. We welcome their builders to develop new types of robots for the next TRC event!
The hall of fame is:
December Destruction 2023 – Underbite
Robot Rebellion 2024 – Fully Dogga
The Texas Cup 2024 - Eviscerator
Format:
Modified swiss (Early Bracket)
We will have 3 rounds of qualifying fights. Fight matchups will be determined by swiss rules (bots will fight other bots with similar records). All bots will take part in the first 2 rounds, but only 1-1 bots will take part in the third round (last chance qualifier). Bots with 0-2 records will have a third round matchup created, but these fights will be run later in the day as grudge matches to give them more time to repair. All bots with 2 wins after the qualifying rounds will move on to a single elimination bracket, which will decide the winner.
