Kilobots XLIV - Calgary Robot Smash-Up

Brian Cassin :

This will be the 44th Kilobots Tournament hosted by the SCRC (Saskatoon Combat Robotics Club). For the first time, the SCRC will be hitting the road and bringing the fun to Calgary's TELUS Spark science centre for a tournament on October 26 and 27, 2019.

Plan on fixing up your Fairy, Ant, and Beetle weight bots after Nationals and the Saskatoon Entertainment Expo events for a weekend of epic rematches and new builders. Please follow Kilobots arena down and join us. We're hoping to use this as an opportunity to grow the sport in Calgary and entice new people to become bot builders, with an eye towards recruiting a local club that can host tournaments here on a regular basis. If that goes well, we will all have more competitors and competitions in western Canada.

Venue: TELUS Spark

TELUS Spark is Calgary's science centre, located a little bit northeast of downtown and just off the Deerfoot Trail highway. Spark's mission is to bring people together to learn, play and create with science, technology, engineering, art and math. This makes robot combat a great fit for a weekend spectacle at Spark!

Spark will be promoting this as part of their annual Monster Mash-Up weekend, wrapping up October, so we're expecting to see a good crowd of spectators too. The other special weekend attractions will include costumes, candy, a space for children to mash-up plushies from dismembered parts, and much more.

Registration closes October 12th, two weeks prior to the event.  Make sure to check out the SCRC "house rules" here:
