NorCal Summer Smash

 

Join Placer Robotics and Reject_Robotics for a smoking hot outdoor summer combat event @ The Vernon Street Downtown Square in Downtown Roseville, CA!

Event Classes:

• 3lb beetleweight
• 1lb full combat ants
• 1lb Plastic Ant Weight - Open Class
• 1lb Plastic Ant Weight - Education (open to all newer student builders through Grade 12)
  • This division is for new student age builders with limited experience
  • Cannot have placed in top 3 at any previous combat robotics events 
  • We will vet each team in this class, contact Kevin.Miller@PlacerRobotics.org with questions 
• Each Driver may only enter 1 Bot per weight class! 
• All classes are modified double elimination

Arenas 

• Beetles and full combat ants will be fighting in the Placer Robotics 6x6 arena with steel floors
• Open Plastic Ants and Education Plastic Ants will be fighting in a 4x4x2 arena with wood floors

Friday Night Optional Safety/Inspection Schedule

5:00-8:00pm
We will have optional Friday night check in/safety at the Placer Robotics Center, a couple blocks away from town square. We'll start breaking down the arena around 8pm or so to prepare to move it to townsquare in the morning.

Rule Set 

• PART 2024-2025 Construction Ruleset (based on Sparc 1.5) 
  • No flamethrowers, hydraulics or flammable liquids!
  • Tip speed limit is 250mph for all classes!

Additional Requirements  

• Under 18 must be accompanied by parents or guardians
• All participants and those entering the pits must complete the Placer Robotics liabilty / media release waiver

Payment deadline is July 19th !  Any bot not paid by the deadline will be moved to the waitlist 

• RCE Photos are required for all bots! Please include a real photo of your robot (or CAD) no later than July 19th. 

Venue Details: What to Expect

• This is an outdoor event, average high temperature early August is 92 degrees.  Expect and prepare for a hot day.  If temps are forecasted to be in the mid/upper 90s, the time schedule and 20 minute time limit will need to be strictly enforced 
• The arenas and driver stations will be in shaded areas 
• The pit area is unshaded - the pits will be in a common area, so coordinate shade coverage with your fellow builders if needed 

What to Bring 

• Power extension cords
• EZ Up/Shade, pit table, chairs, coolers, cooling towels, sunscreen
• Spares, tools, eye protection , ear protection
• Bring your own table, and a popup tent for shade.  We will group the pits together so please coordinate with other builders to share tents
   

Food 

• Food options include  Downtown Roseville Partnership  local dining businesses.  Look for details to closer to the event! 
• Absolutely no alcohol permitted at the event
