Welcome to our 1st annual "Palmer Lake Pow!Wow!" combat robotics competition and showcase! This event is for both experienced hobbyists and new participants. It's a production of Monumental Impact (a makerspace and STEM education non-profit), in their new open-to-the-public location and makerspace (located at 866 CO-105, Palmer Lake, CO -- just 1 mile off of I-25). There's no charge just to attend and watch -- we hope you enjoy the action and join us in the future!
The event will feature 2 Classes: Plastic Antweight (1 lb) and Open Antweight (1 lb). We're planning for up to 24 robots total. The SPARC rules will apply, including the specifics for Plastic Antweights in Section 16.3 (all bots must pass inspection; robots not in compliance will not be able to participate). Each Class will run in its own double-elimination bracket and the final results reported to RCE. We will use a 4'x4' arena that's 2' high and has a metal floor. The arena will be outdoors (under a tent), but the pit area will be indoors with air conditioning.

Fees: $25 per team
The Pow!Wow! is an applied-STEM showcase that features robotics and other competitions. In addition to combat robotics, a small FTC Robotics demo and a Rival Robotics scrimmage will be presented.
Event Schedule (note: these times may be adjusted and updated after event participation is finalized, but 1-3 PM will be peak time for watching):
8 AM: venue opens. Participants should check in as early as possible. Tech inspection starts
10 AM: Tech inspection is completed. Combat robotics bracket/ranking matches begin. (There might be some flex in this start time.)
2:30 PM (approx): “Playoff” matches begin
2 PM (approx): FTC robotics demos on separate field (inside the space)
4 - 6 PM: Rival Robotics scrimmage/demo (on FTC field inside the space) (this will be the first public demo of Rival Robotics in Colorado). (There is no charge for Rival Robotics team entries to this event.)
Newcomers are most welcome! Plastic Antweights are a great way to get started in this amazing hobby. Check out the “Resources” here, and bot kits at Fingertech, BotKits, PalmBeachBots, Turnabot and others. Monumental Impact offers makerspace resources plus classes and workshops for students of all ages! Be careful – even the small weapons on these robots can be very powerful – so check out the cautions described in Resources. Feel free to send me questions via email.
Parking: we're located in a small "strip mall" with plenty of parking. Please park toward the west end (near where you entered the parking area) to leave slots for other businesses that are active on Saturdays.
