Prepare for a day where sparks fly, gears grind, and robots battle for victory! Custom built beetle weight robots will face off in fast-paced, high-energy matches that showcase both engineering skill and driving finesse. The builders bring the robots, while the Discovery Center and growingSTEMS provide the perfect venue and arena to make the event possible.

About Discovery Center at Water’s Edge: https://discoverycentermd.org/The Discovery Center at Water’s Edge is a non-profit, interactive science, technology, and heritage center on the Bush River in Belcamp, MD. Its mission is to spark curiosity and innovation through hands-on STEM exhibits, immersive programming, and community outreach. Visitors can explore interactive displays on computing, energy, 3D printing, agricultural technology, and more—making it the perfect setting for a day of creative engineering and thrilling competition. For this event, the Discovery Center is proudly providing the space where all the action will take place.
About growingSTEMSgrowingSTEMS is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring students and community members through hands-on robotics programs and STEM education. Founded in 2011, growingSTEMS offers opportunities for learners of all ages to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through competitive robotics teams, community workshops, and outreach events. For this competition, growingSTEMS is providing the combat arena where the battles will unfold.
6’x6′ cage with wooden floors.
Competitors will be provided with a folding table, but are asked to bring their own extension cords / power strips and chairs for use at the event. All competitors under the age of 18 will be required to have a parent or guardian in attendance. Robots will be required to meet a modified set of SPARC Robot Construction Specifications – More information here – https://sparc.tools/. All approved modifications to the SPARC ruleset are below:
- Due to facility regulations, this event will be enforcing SPARC rules 14.4 – Heat and fire are forbidden as weapons. No special weapons will be allowed.
- weight bonuses will follow NHRL rules for the 3lb weight class.
- Two 2lb robots in the 3lb class
Event will be held at Discovery Center at Water’s Edger | 4505 Pulaski Hwy. Belcamp, MD 21017
