DiscoverFest: Fight at the Museum Presented by CROK

Combat Robots of Oklahoma is going to be at DiscoverFest, formerly known as Tinkerfest, hosted by Science Museum Oklahoma!  This is a great opportunity to showcase combat robots to a large audience. Location:  This is an indoor event at the Science Museum Oklahoma (2020 Remington Pl, Oklahoma City, OK 73111).  

Time:  Competitors can begin arriving at 7:00 AM.  We also plan to do safety at that time. We want matches to start at 9:30 AM to coincide with the opening of Tinkerfest to the public. Please be on-site by 8:30 AM so that we can get all of the robots through safety checks before the museum opens up. The Tinkerfest activities will close at 4:00 PM, so we must be done with the tournament brackets at that time.  The museum itself will remain open until 6:00 PM to allow Tinkerfest participants a chance to see the museum.

Facilities:  Tables and chairs are provided by the venue.  Bathrooms are onsite.  Electrical outlets may be limited, so it is recommended to bring your own power strips and extension cords.  

Arena:  The arena is 8 ft x 8 ft x 4 ft tall with a wooden floor.  There is a seam in the middle of the floor, but we do our best to minimize it.

Robots:  Robots must meet the SPARC Robot Construction Specifications.  In addition, no fire weapons or ICE (Internal Combustion Engines).  A LiPo charging bag must be used when charging your batteries.  Weapon locks and sharp edge covers must be used while the bot is outside of the arena.

Weight Classes: This year we are running only two weight classes: Plastic Ant (1 pound plastic only), and Beetle (3 pound). Once the tournaments are over, or during any dead time, we will hold grudge matches and rumbles for those that are interested.  

Note: Each driver is only allowed to be the main driver of 2 ROBOTS.  1 robot in each weightclass. We may open this and allow more the week before the event. You're welcome to have more than one robot compete but keep in mind that repair times may be constrained.

Format: Dependent on number of entrants.  Robots registered in the tournament will be guaranteed at least two fights.

Fees: Tinkerfest is free to spectate, entering the museum will require a purchase of a ticket.  The registration for the tournament is $20 per bot and will be handled at the event.

Prizes:  Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in each weight class.
