Robot Royale 7

Welcome to the seventh Robot Royale at UNSW Sydney. This event is being run as a collaboration between UNSW CREATE and Wollongong Robot Combat. This is a regular antweight tournament, functioning as a display to students during UNSW to entice them into workshops and competiton. Competitors will still get the usual competition they have come to expect.

Note: Plastic ant rules have been updated, see the rules below. Read through to ensure your robot is still compliant. Similarly, robots utilising weight bonuses must be prepared to demonstrate that the walking mechanism uses at least 50% of their weight bonus.

Leagues: Robot Royale has two 150g antweight leagues. Each robot may only compete in one league. You may enter as many robots as you wish in each league. See rules for extra information.

• 150g Plastic Ant League (destructive) - material restrictions apply. 
• 150g Open League (destructive)

Arena: The arena is a 1200x1200x600mm polycarbonate arena with a corner pit.

Venue: We will have plenty of space with pit tables, power outlets, water, and a well equip makerspace.

Schedule

• Sunday February 22nd 2026
  • 8am - Doors open
  • 8am - 9am - Robot safety checks
  • 9am - 12:30pm (est) - Round robin matches
  • 12:30pm - 5pm (est) - Single elimination tournament

• Key rules for safety include:
  • Must have a switch to turn off power without dissasembling the robot.
  • A visible power LED.
  • Your battery must be covered
  • Must pass a radio failsafe test
  • Must have a weapon lock that prevents any spinning weapons from moving while outside the arena.
