Team Firewolf Robotics and the Marion County Maker Collective are gearing up to host their second combat robotics event! Thoroughbred Beatdown will be held in the same facility as the last event (March Mech Madness) in Ocala, FL and will use the same 8ft x 8ft arena! Pre-event email will have more detailed information about the event! Here's the general event info for this event:
Registration Payment Policy:
PLEASE DO NOT PAY THROUGH RCE! All robot registration payments will be handled through Zeffy, and are due immediately upon signing up. If any robot is unpaid after 24 hours, it will be wait-listed to make room for wait-listed robots who have already paid. No refunds for paid robots that drop out. Weight Classes:
Antweight - Limited to 12 entries with a wait-list ($20 per robot)
Plastic Antweight - Limited to 12 entries with a wait-list ($20 per robot)
(Approved materials for plastic ants are 3D printed PET, PETG, ABS, ASA, PLA, and PLA+. This means that sheet ABS or cnc machined parts are not legal.)
Schedule:
9:00AM - Load-in and safety inspections open
10:00AM - Load-in and safety inspections close, doors open to general public
10:30AM - Drivers Meeting
11:00AM - Fights start
(Lunch Break after third round of qualifiers, Lunch options available on-site for a small fee)
6:00PM - Award Ceremony
Pits:
Admission is free for builders, limited to 4 per team. 1 table and 2 chairs will be provided, bring more chairs if needed. Power will be provided, bring extension cords, power strips, LiPo bags, etc. We encourage all teams to sign up as many robots as possible! Due to space limitations, teams that only sign up one robot should expect to share their table with another team.
Rules:
This event will follow the latest SPARC Ruleset for combat, including weight bonuses allowed. Match length is 2 minutes. Bracket format is 3 rounds of Swiss qualifiers, top 8 are seeded into a Single Elimination finals bracket. Each robot will have 20 minutes in between matches. One postponement (10 minutes) per robot for the whole event. Grudges and rumbles as time permits. One unstick per robot will be allowed if you accidentally stick yourself, unlimited unsticks if the robots get stuck to each other. No heat, fire, smoke, entanglement, or other weapons that do not fit the spirit of the rules. Exposed batteries are automatic forfeits.
