The Cheesehead Championship

Hello fellow robot builders!

Have you been waiting for a combat robot event in Wisconsin? Well, wait no more: the Cheesehead Championship is almost here!

This event will be hosted in the Milwaukee area at Nashotah House Theological Seminary. The competition will take place in the gymnasium, where there will be plenty of space with tables and chairs provided. Participants will need to bring their own extension cords, power strip, and any equipment necessary for the repair and operation of their robots.

The event will run as long as necessary to complete the brackets, but we hope to wrap up by 6:00 PM.

This will be a MRCA-qualifying combat robot competition. The competition will include 1 lb (Antweight) and 150g (Fairyweight) weight classes.

Tournament Format

• Antweight: Modified Swiss format. A group stage where robots with 2–1 or better records advance to a single-elimination bracket.
• Fairyweight: Double elimination.

Sign-Ups

There are 24 open spots for Antweight bots and 8 open spots for Fairyweight bots. Drivers may register up to 3 robots total, with a maximum of 2 Antweight robots and 1 Fairyweight robot. Sign-ups begin on Saturday, July 11 at 10:00am CST.

Venue

The venue has plenty of space for pits, and tables and chairs will be provided. Please review the parking map linked here [Cheesehead Parking Map] prior to the event. Participants should also bring an extension cord and power strip.

Pizza, snacks, and drinks will be available for purchase by cash or Venmo.

Arena

4' x 4' arena with a plywood floor.

Rough Schedule

• 7:30 AM – Doors Open & Safety Inspection Opens
• 9:45 AM – Drivers Meeting
• 10:00 AM – Fights Begin
• 11:30 AM – 12:00 PM – Lunch Break
• 4:00 PM – Single Elimination Begins

Entry Fee

• Antweight: $35
• Fairyweight: $15

Entry fees will help cover venue and arena costs. Payment must be made at the event. Cash is preferred, but Venmo and PayPal will also be accepted.

Ruleset

This event will follow MRCA rules.

Spectators

Spectators are welcome and may attend free of charge. Doors open to spectators at 10:00am.

Live Stream

The event will most likely be livestreamed, but this is still TBD.
