Dollar Hobbyz Combat Robot Club Mar. 2023

The club time is changing! We will be meeting at 1:00 PM on Sunday, March 12th. Hopefully this will be a better time for those builders who are unable to make it on a weeknight for whatever reason. If you're new, you'll be able to find us in the pit area at Dollar Hobbyz. It's right up the stairs to the right of the racetrack.

As always, the plan is to do some un-structured robot fighting, driving practice, and just have fun. We will be using the 4'x4' arena with a floor pit provided by Team Kwin-alt. Experienced builders, new builders, and spectators are all welcome. There will be plenty of builders there who are happy to help get new people involved.

As the club is quickly growing, we will be implementing some new safety regulations to help new people learn the ropes and so we continue to have our accident-free record. These include, but are not limited to:

• Any robot with an active weapon is expected to have a weapon lock applied when it is not in the arena. This can be anything that will stop the weapon from spinning up unexpectedly
• Every robot will need to pass a twitch test before it is allowed to compete in any matches. This consists of turning the weapon on and making the robot spin in a circle. The transmitter is then turned off. If the robot stops moving when it loses signal, it passes.
• When two robots are entering the arena for a match, the more dangerous robot will be the last one in and the first one out. 
• An experienced builder will be at the arena at all times to ensure safe practices are followed
• Everyone who is handeling a robot will be expected to sign a waiver if they have not already

These are all standard practices which are implemented at all tournaments. We should hold ourselves to the same standards.
