Blight
1lb - Antweight

Blight is my 1lb 4WD vertical spinner. My main goal with this is to have a solid front defense with the large titanium "plows" that dominate the front of the bot, keeping all of the important bits of the weapon system behind these plows

General Specs by generation:

MK1:

  • Drivetrain/electronics
    • 4 N10 1200rpm motors
    • Malenki Nano HV, 2 motors in parallel per side
    • Running on 3S
  • Wheels
    • 25 by 9mm cast silicone wheels on TPU cores
  • Weapon
    • 62mm dual blade direct drive weapon
    • stacked hub style around a 2822/17 1100kv motor
    • 20amp BL_Heli ESC
  • TPU chassis
  • 1.6mm Grade 5 Titanium front wedge at a 55 degree angle and about 15 degrees of sweep
  • 3.2mm acetal side armor
  • either 5.7mm HDPE, 1.5mm carbon fiber or 1.6mm 6061 aluminum top plates
  • 1.5mm carbon fiber or 6061 aluminum weapon mounts
  • a variety of titanium forks

MK2:

  • Drivetrain/electronics same as MK1
  • Wheels
    • mix of 26 and 29mm diameter by 12mm wide cast silicone wheels
    • hybrid tpu/hdpe hubs, hdpe for the section with a set screw so tightening won't deform the wheel
  • Weapon
    • 4mm dead shaft
    • 4x11x3mm flange bearings mounted in CF weapon mounts
    • changed pulley drive to increase reach and move the strike zone lower, increasing the weapon effectiveness as now it can actually deliver the blade to the opponent
    • still 62mm blade with similar geometry, had intended to be dual blades with a space between them, but pulley alignment required stacking them next to each other to effectively become a 6mm thick single blade
    • 11T drive pulley, 18T blade pulley
    • upgraded to a 2207.5 2450kv motor for weapon
    • new motor required going up to a 45 amp ESC
    • HDPE lock collars
  • 11T drive pulley, 18 tooth weapon pulley on 4mm live shaft
  • tripled thickness of belly for durability
  • shape and geometry of weapon mounts changed to prevent it from doing "the thing"
  • angle of front wedge increased to 65 degrees to further extend weapon reach and lower the strike zone
  • redesigned forks to more easily get opponents up into the strike zone
  • 5.7mm HDPE top plates with 4mm HSS rod inlays

MK2.5

  • Drivetrain/electronics same as MK2
  • Wheels
    • switched to 27/29mm foam tires on UHMW hubs with flex seal for traction
  • Weapon
    • upped to 5mm dead shaft
    • 5x10x4mm bearins mounted in blade
    • 15T drive pulley to accommodate keying it to motor shaft
    • 22T weapon pulley to maintain similar reductin ratio and have clearance for bearings
    • improved weapon mount design to allow for central pulley alignment and spacing between blades
  • front wedge angle brought down to 60 degrees to promote opponents riding up and "ramping" off of it
  • further refinement of fork geometry
  • top plates still undetermined
